Cellulose forms the base structure of all plant forms, and can be generated independently as a biomaterial for many different applications for 3D construction.
Workshop participants were introduced to the formula and process of growing their own cellulose from a kombucha SCOBY, and discussed current and potential future uses of this durable material in art and design.
Participants were required to bring their own clean glass jars in order to take their experiments home with them. Experiments were created for non-food uses only.
The workshop was facilitated by WhiteFeather Hunter, Interim Principal Investigator and Technician at the Speculative Life Lab.
