About the work and the events: https://www.eisode.art/recapture?lang=en
Based on the concept of filtration, [re]capture is an in situ installation that explores the materialization of atmospheric pollution flows in Montreal. Nomadic objects placed in urban space capture the levels of fine particles, carbon dioxide and organic volatile compounds as well as images of their immediate environment. This information is organized in a database and transmitted into the exhibition space to inform the behavior of wind and light flows which circulate in a filtration system made of biomaterials and plants recognized for their filtering properties.
[re]capture is carried out as part of the research-creation project “Dynamic flexible membranes: air filtration as an active material, interdisciplinary and environmental process” directed by Alice Jarry (Concordia University) and supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et Culture, the Conseil des arts de Montréal, the Concordia University Research Chair in Critical Practices in Materials and Materiality, and the Milieux Institute Biolab. The team would like to thank Fabrice Godefroy at the City of Montreal Environment Department (Air Quality Division), Patrizio McLelland, Sarah Al Mamoun, Teague Riordon and Mahla Mohammad Nia.
About Eisode Gallery:
EISODE offers a context suited for the experience of installations that incorporate elements of dynamic generative art. These artworks are connected to technologies as they are based on algorithmic writing systems that unfold over time. The gallery hosts installations that require increased and meticulous attention and therefore a significant time of experience. https://www.eisode.art
