*TODAY* Join Biolab member, Public Scholar, and PhD candidate Vanessa Mardirossian as she facilitates a discussion and Q&A with colour experts. The event is free and you can participate online and in person at 4TH SPACE (or watch live on YouTube).
From the Concordia website:
Come and explore the captivating world of sustainable textile dyes with Vanessa Mardirossian, Public Scholar and Ph.D. candidate in the INDI program at Concordia University. Join this lively discussion with renowned experts to demystify dyes and discover eco-responsible initiatives in dye design. From aesthetics to health impact, this multidisciplinary reflection on color, intersecting design, history, and science, aims to deepen our understanding of the multiple aspects of dyes in fashion. Three axes: Color & Health, Color & Culture, and Color & Sustainable Innovation, will provide a wealth of perspectives on dye design.
Systemic, bioregional, and biomimetic approaches to dyeing will be discussed, spanning domains from education to environmental health. Divided in two parts, the event aims to offer a participatory experience to the audience.Vanessa will start by facilitating a discussion highlighting each guest’s relationship with color based on their expertise. The session will conclude with a Q&A, giving the audience the opportunity to interact directly with the speakers. The second part, in the form of a playful and visual reflection workshop, will provide an immersive approach through a ‘cooperative brainstorming’ session where we will manipulate keywords and concepts emerging from our discussions. This step will lead us to create a cartographic synthesis of the discussion to which the audience will be invited to collaborate.
Join us to explore the vibrant world of sustainable dyes, gain new knowledge, interact with renowned experts, and contribute to a collective map of sustainable dye design. We look forward to sharing this adventure with you and collecting your ideas and perspectives!
