Veil | Tent

Researcher: Haleh Vedadi, MArch (2007), MDes student (Concordia)

Project Scope: Veil | Tent is a research-creation project at the intersection of design and architecture through sensory experiences of biomaterials (Kombucha leather). This project will lead towards a physical and video installation which aims to involve participants, to get them closer to each other and their environment for mutual conversation and interaction. In this project a bio textile architecture becomes the arena for sensory immersion, to embed people in their surroundings by tapping into their senses. Having access to the facilities of Speculative Life BioLab provides an excellent opportunity for me to experiment with bio-materials such as Kombucha fabric, and get inspired by other ongoing research in the lab. Examining different thicknesses of Kombucha textile, combining it with various natural essences and herbs and further experimentations with the material will be part of my collaboration with the lab.
